AroundTheCorner – Community Guidelines
AroundTheCorner exists to help families connect locally in a safe, respectful, and authentic way. These guidelines explain how we expect users to behave on and off the platform when interactions originate here.
Our Principles

- Respect families and boundaries
- Be honest and neighborly
- Keep things child-appropriate and adult-focused
- No pressure, no harassment
Expected Behavior
Users are expected to:
- Communicate respectfully and without judgment
- Represent themselves honestly (age, family status, interests)
- Respect consent in all communication and meetups
- Use reporting tools if something feels unsafe or inappropriate
- Accept that not every connection leads to a meetup
- Keep interactions constructive and community minded
Not Allowed
The following behaviors are not permitted:
- Harassment, threats, or intimidation
- Sexual content, innuendo, or romantic pursuit
- Content involving minors (photos, videos, identifiers)
- Hate speech, discrimination, or bullying
- Misrepresentation or impersonation
- Commercial solicitation, services, recruitment, or spam (e.g., MLMs, real estate, coaching, nannying, photography, fitness, babysitting)
- Data collection or off-platform information gathering
Children, Privacy & Boundaries
To protect families and children:
- Do not upload or request photos of children
- Do not ask for addresses, schools, or detailed child information
- Keep conversations adult-focused (community, interests, logistics)
- Respect privacy and do not share screenshots of chats or profiles
Meetups & Events
For in-person gatherings arranged through the platform:
- Participation is voluntary and at personal discretion
- Choose public places for first meetups
- Respect that plans may change and no-shows may occur
- No supervision or childcare expectations should be assumed
- Users are responsible for their own children
Enforcement
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these guidelines. Enforcement prioritizes community safety and user trust. In repeated or severe cases, accounts may be banned.
We do not debate moderation outcomes but we aim to enforce consistently and fairly.
